This painting is the result of a demonstration that I presented to my oil painting class. It is a 16" x 20" painted on canvas, and I call it, "Desert Island Light".
Wonderful artwork! I saw your comment on wet canvas re. teaching art and came over to look. Also, signed up to follow your blog. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
when you observe nature and you want to make strong illusion of depth on canvas you need to make first plan stronger than the background. The air is blurring and whitening the objects that are far away. in this picture i would put a thin layer of white paint on the trees that are behind the house. This should make the illusion of depth more convincing.
I read your posting on wet Canvas and just came along to check out the rest of your paintings. I love them all. I'm just starting out painting landscapes and its a bit tricky.
I so admire your artwork and the two florals that you've posted are exemplary. You are a master.
