This is one of my newest flower paintings. I entered it into my art club's fall show, and it received an "Award Of Excellence", which is equivalent to a "First Place".
Have you heard of Nancy Dahlstrom? She recently had an exhibition at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum in Roanoke, VA. A lot of her featured work were paintings of flowers and plants. Your wonderful work reminds me of hers.
Your paintings are beautiful! I started painting area 50 years old. Have been away from it for a while, but getting back to it now. I have some questions. When you paint do you usually do an undercoat? This how I was taught. Also, I have one ly learned oil painting time g. But am considering doing some acrylic. What is your opinion on the 2 different mediums?
Check around on this blog. You'll see that I most often begin my flower paintings with a very detailed, accurate, grisaille (gray) underpainting, over which I then apply many thin glazes of color.
Beautiful!! I love your paintings, lots of colour which makes you feel happy inside.

DeleteExcellent,Which brand of oil paints do you use?
ReplyDeleteI use many brands of oil paint, but most recently either M. Graham, or those from The Art Treehouse, both of which are Walnut Oil based.
